A family who come from a refugee background on low incomes are experiencing financial hardship, struggling to afford their bills and pay for repairs after being affected by ex-TC Alfred, on top of their continued recovery from the 2022 Brisbane floods. The couple have two children, one in primary school and one just about to finish high school. A recent death in the family has also been a financial setback as they had to return to their home country for culturally important funeral practices.
Due to their financial hardship, the couple have been as yet unable to afford to complete repairs to parts of their unit, such as the bathroom waterproofing, kitchen cabinetry and appliances, and warped flooring. They will likely also need to go through mould remediation as they have not yet been able to commence their ex-TC Alfred repairs.
The family will be greatly appreciative of any support they are able to access to assist them to return to normal life in their home.
