Our program assists young parents (Mothers) to find permanent, stable housing in their local community.
GIVIT
Our Young Parents program assists young parents (Mothers) who have become homeless, to find long term accommodation and in doing so, find peace and hope for the future.
Young Mothers and their young children (babies and toddlers) are extremely disadvantaged because of poor incomes, extreme stress, family breakdown, homelessness and often family violence. This affects them in physical, emotional and psychological ways.
Meeting cost of living pressures is almost impossible, despite best efforts, budgeting and supports.
This is particularly observed in the areas of grocery shopping for healthy, basic food stuffs. Something that is often taken for granted.
Young mothers can face stigma and as a result, feel unaccepted by society. This means shame and despair can creep into their thoughts, despite their best efforts in caring for that which is most precious to them- their little children.
