Storm damage has resulted in children’s mattresses becoming mould affected and unsafe, a television being destroyed due to a power surge, and the household freezer no longer functioning. These losses have created immediate hardship, particularly in maintaining safe sleeping arrangements and food storage. The client has applied for natural disaster relief funding but is currently awaiting an outcome and has no financial capacity to replace these items in the interim.
The client has four dependent children, including a child with autism, and relies on a Centrelink Carer Payment as the primary source of income. The situation has been further compounded by the recent hospitalisation of the father of the two youngest children. Limited supports needs assistance with essential items including Freezer, TV, Mattresses.
