In order to provide full-time care for his children, the father has had to cease employment, resulting in a significant loss of income. Centrelink and childcare benefit applications have been submitted, but these may take up to six weeks to process, leaving the family in a financially precarious position during this waiting period. Currently, the client and his children are residing in the garage of his mother’s home. They share a single double bed, with all belongings stored in boxes. The living conditions are cramped and unsuitable for long-term accommodation, especially for young children.
