Recipient story

40year-old Aboriginal man rebuilding his life after homelessness and family loss, would greatly benefit from a Christmas gift
Christmas 2025
First Nations Support
GIVIT
40-year-old Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander man who has been working hard to rebuild his life after release from prison. During his incarceration, he tragically lost his entire immediate family, leaving him with no support network on release. He was discharged into homelessness late on a Friday afternoon, unable to access Centrelink or emergency accommodation, and spent his first nights couch surfing in an unsafe environment.

Despite these challenges, he has shown consistent motivation to turn his life around. He has re-established his ID, replaced his forklift licence so he can return to work at the the markets, and actively attends job agencies to secure employment. He is now linked with support organisation and currently residing at Hostel while awaiting updates on his long-term housing applications. He maintains a strong relationship with his daughter and is committed to staying out of trouble and rebuilding

How it's helped before

I am writing to personally thank 'GIVIT' for a generous 'Simply Groceries eGift card' voucher that I was gifted, with $100 worth of essential spending money for my family & I to utilise at our own discretion. I can happily report this donation has assisted the purchase of a basic, solo, wifi security camera, with the excess going toward food for my teenage daughter who is currently taken on responsibilities around our home while I recover in a rehabilitation centre. Thank you for this kind gesture, as it has helped to improve security measures around our home & support my daughter to purchase daily essential items such as groceries, basic hygiene & cleaning products.

Thank you for your generous gesture & much needed support GIVIT.
