Recipient story

Support for Young Refugee Aspiring Artist
Christmas 2025
The donated items are for a 18-year-old refugee high school student who recently relocated from Cairns to Ipswich. Since arriving to Australia in November 2023, the young person has faced the challenges of adapting to a new country and community. Amidst this transition, art has become an anchor. Art is an essential way to process lived experiences, find clarity, and maintain his mental wellbeing. Drawing and creating allows him to focus, express himself, and build confidence during a period of uncertainty.
He is a talented and determined young artist with a clear aspiration to study a Bachelor of Fine Arts after school but finding it very difficult to continue participating in his love for art due to limited finances in purchasing/obtaining art supplies e.g. oil paints, brushes, large and small canvas’, graphite and charcoal pencils. large easel, and other creative resources. Donations would make a tangible difference in nurturing his skills and sustaining his passion.
