Downstairs of home flooded while away

This 80 year old pensioner returned home after a trip away to discover the downstairs of her home had flooded 2 weeks prior. The fridge/freezer had been flooded, it was no longer working, the food had all gone bad and created a terrible smell after 2 weeks. Her leather lounge was covered in grey mould, along with her clothes, linen and towels. She did not have any insurance so tried to wash and clean but the smell wouldn't go away and may items were stained with the mould, so she gave up and had to throw everything away.
Unfortunately, she didn't think to take any photos of the damaged items as she wasn't insured and wasn't aware of the grants made available. This has made it difficult for her to claim for the government grants as she has no proof.
