Support to connect and engage with vulnerable families with disabilities
GIVIT
We work alongside parents with disabilities, supporting them to be the best parents they can be. Many of these parents have faced significant challenges in life, including childhood involvement with the child protection system, experiences of domestic and family violence, financial hardship, homelessness, and social isolation.
As parents, they are often also raising children and young people with disabilities. With recent NDIS changes, it has become more difficult than ever to support these vulnerable families—without our services, many would be left completely isolated.
Because the NDIS provides only individualised funding, there is no allowance for practical resources that can benefit these families. Many of the parents we support learn best through hands-on practice—by being shown and then having the chance to try things themselves. Simple items such as toys, packed lunches, or other everyday resources provide powerful opportunities for them to build their parenting skills.
