This motivated young person has self-placed with his mother and family, which means that he does not receive the same level of benefits and supports that other young people in foster care placements have access. His family often struggle to pay the rent and bills but always try to make things work which often leads to stress on the household to meet five children’s needs.

In the future he hopes to begin an apprenticeship, combining hands-on learning with his continued schooling. This aligns strongly with his interests, as he enjoys practical work and has a natural talent for mechanics and problem-solving. Outside of school, he spends his time fishing, working with his hands, and keeping active at the local skatepark, attending rodeo’s and local shows as he loves country music and environments to do with anything country. He also hopes to join the local rugby league club next year but with this comes the costs that will put more financial strain on the family.
