2025 NSW Mid North Coast & Hunter Floods
Client is a 45-year-old man living on a disability pension. A month before the flood he lost his mother, resulting in him moving into a small cabin at the back of his brother's property. He had just finished setting up the cabin when the food hit. Client lost almost everything. He has managed to replace some of the items with the assistance of the local church and using the last of his savings and the property was not insured. Client needs kitchen equipment, pots and pans, utensils, crockery, a hot plate, pressure cooker, air fryer and microwave. He also needs new linen and clothes and shoes as he only has those he was in and a few salvaged items. He receives support through an NDIS package. He previously had a mobility scooter and an electric lift chair. These two items were lost in the flood. His request for a new scooter and electric chair has been denied by NDIS due to insufficient funds left in his package to provide replacements reducing his independent mobility.
