Recipient story

2 Burmese refugee brothers wanting laptops to help with secondary and university studies
GIVIT
2 Burmese refugee brothers (17 and 15) who are recent arrivals (May 2025) to Australia on 202 humanitarian visas, are requesting support with laptops to help with future education goals. Both brothers originally from Myanmar, had to flee and seek asylum in Malaysia when the Myanmar civil war began in 2021. This severely disrupted their education (both having only studied up to a year 3 level) and forced both brothers to be the main point of support for their family being that they were the only English-speaking members.

Now enrolled in a Secondary level English Language School, both brothers are wanting to improve their English skills and aim to excel in their high school studies. Access to a laptop will help with their studies, allow them to explore education options for them as they both are wanting to enroll into university to study engineering. Having access to laptops will provide support to the brothers in rebuilding their educational journey and work towards their goals.
