The mother and child have experienced significant domestic violence. Both identify as Aboriginal and are strongly connected to their culture. The mother has worked hard to secure safe, stable accommodation for herself and her child. The mother has limited family support, but is slowly establishing a safe, culturally supported community network. The mother is reliant on Centrelink as her sole financial income. Although she has managed to prioritise her child's needs and obtain general household items, she is financially struggling to establish a home for herself and her daughter due to the high cost of living and affordability of household furniture and whitegoods.
