Many of the families we support have recently arrived in Australia as refugees and are working hard to rebuild their lives in a new country. They are currently receiving Centrelink payments and managing very limited budgets as they adjust to unfamiliar systems, languages, and communities.
For most of these families, this will be their first Christmas in Australia. While it’s a time of celebration for many, it can also highlight feelings of isolation and financial stress for those who are far from home and loved ones.
Providing support at this time of year helps bring comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging to families who are starting over in a new country.
