49 year old Aboriginal woman with a history of domestic violence is caring for her 24 year old daughter, who has mental and intellectual difficulties, and has also taken in her aunt, who was previously homeless. Their major household appliances have broken down due to age and storm damage, but the state government has denied assistance to replace them. The carer’s allowance covers only rent, utilities, and essential food, leaving no funds for medical expenses, furniture, or other necessities. They are also in need of blankets, clothing, and food vouchers. Despite the financial and emotional challenges of caring for her daughter and aunt, she remains remarkably resilient. Any assistance we can offer her would be greatly appreciated.
