This young Aboriginal mum has moved with her toddler from a rural area to escape an abusive partner. Her son requires medical care not available in the country and has had two operations to repair a heart defect while living in transitional accommodation after the refuge. Despite these setbacks with her son she is aiming to acquire her driver's licence and has been taking lessons, and is looking to enrol in Tafe next year now that she has a stable home. She has acquired some furniture due to her budgeting skills and while thrilled with the home offered is lacking the funds to purchase necessary items such as a washing machine, and other miscellaneous items required. This mum has limited support in the Metro area but has developed friendships through the parenting programs she attends and is determined to make a success of her new circumstances.
