A fresh start after many years of trauma and despair
GIVIT
This 52 year old man has grown up with a tragic and traumatic family life leading to him isolating and relying only on himself, whilst managing the mental health related to his childhood trauma and then the associated alcohol dependency. He came to Canberra to seek AOD support and a new start to his life as his drinking had gotten to life threatening levels. Having no family and no support, he moved to Canberra for the chance to address the 40 year battle he has been fighting. He has recently graduated an AOD program and is currently 18 months clean and sober and starting a new life in recovery in the ACT. He has recently been offered a housing property and gratefully accepted it so he can move forward with his recovery and new life in Canberra. His goal is to reunite with his adult daughter and grandchildren after 30 years. He is starting from scratch with only the clothes on his back and is hoping to get some help to establish himself in his new home.
