A single mother is experiencing ongoing family violence from her adult daughter, who has substance‑use issues and has been physically abusive. Police have attended, and the mother continues to feel unsafe in her own home.
She became unemployed in November 2024 and has exhausted all savings trying to keep up with rent and basic living costs. She is currently on a very low income while awaiting Centrelink JobSeeker payments. Rent is $600 per week, and she has accumulated rent arrears, placing her at immediate risk of eviction and homelessness.
Due to severe financial stress, she is struggling to afford essential groceries. Access to grocery vouchers would provide urgent relief, reduce hunger, and support stability while she engages with housing, legal, and family‑violence services and looks for work.
