Due to a housing crisis mum, pregnant with twins, dad and 2 children, the youngest nonverbal neurodiverse, were residing in a tent at a caravan park. Twins were born premature with high medical needs. The family resided in a Ronald McDonald house for many weeks. On discharge from hospital, housing was not obtainable and scarce, so the family returned to living in a tent. The family of 6 were able to move to a small cabin designed for a couple, very cramped, damp and no ensuite still having to use the ablution block. Flooding blocked access to services and road remains under repair. The challenges and cost have been overwhelming. They had to store furniture that's been destroyed by mould and rot. Last week the family signed a lease for a home, situated close to the hospital and in an area where allied health and outreach support will provide support in the family home. Dad has gained employment with the move, currently finalising all requirements and licenses for work ready.
