Urgent Support for Woman at Risk of Homelessness
GIVIT
We are seeking urgent assistance for a 52-year-old woman who is at high risk of homelessness.
The client recently lost her employment and, despite ongoing efforts, has been unable to secure new work. She suspects age discrimination has been a barrier to re-employment. Her only source of income is JobSeeker, which has been insufficient to cover rent and living expenses.
She attempted to make part-payments towards her rent arrears; however, this has not prevented eviction. The eviction process is now underway, and she is expected to lose her housing shortly. Rent payments have completely drained her savings, leaving her with no financial buffer.
With access to grocery and fuel vouchers, the client will be able to reduce her day-to-day expenses and set aside funds to contribute towards emergency accommodation once eviction occurs. This support will also provide her with some flexibility to manage unexpected costs that may arise during her transition into homelessness.
