An isolated resident impacted with diabetes unable to afford food after months of saving to fund car repairs

Uninsured resident on a disability pension experienced damage to home in the Feb storm, has continued to face financial hardship and needed to self-fund car repairs as she was completely isolated in a regional area without a mechanic or public transportation. She was able to save money to get her car fixed by not buying food and trying to just live off tins in her pantry, which was putting her at risk due to her diabetes. She can walk into town to an IGA. IGA vouchers will help her afford fresh food which will improve her health and utilise her pension to assist reducing debt she incurred prioritising the car repairs to prevent being at risk and isolated.
