Grandmother who is a caring for her teen grandchild with special needs after being abandoned by his parents. My client if the legal guardian for her grandson that was granted by Department of Child Protection through family arrangement. My client is currently struggling with health issues that impacts her capacity to work however has no options but to care for grandchild after he was abandon by his parents. My client is currently receiving pensioner's payment that is not enough to cater for grandson needs.
My client is seeking supports with clothing and food vouchers as she is navigating the system to see if she can access family tax benefit for her grandson to be able to meet his basic needs.
