Recipient story

Breakfast Program Supporting Student Wellbeing in Fitzroy Crossing
First Nations Support
Domestic & Family Violence
Flooding 2022
Supporting Aboriginal students and families to re-engage with education at Fitzroy Valley District High School. In 2025, Dalja supported over 160 students, approximately 60% of the school population.

In 2026, Dalja will run a daily Breakfast Program to reduce barriers to attendance and improve student wellbeing. Many students face challenges such as overcrowded housing, food insecurity, limited access to hygiene facilities, family stress, and unstable morning routines, which can affect confidence, health, and learning readiness.

The program will provide breakfast, access to fresh uniforms, showers, and hygiene products, while promoting independence and healthy eating by allowing students to prepare their own meals in a safe, supervised space. To support this, Dalja is seeking a conveyor belt toaster, waffle maker/iron, and juice machine to help facilitate our breakfast program.
