This family was heavily impacted by Cyclone Alfred. When the storm hit, they were without power for six days, which meant all the food in their fridge and freezer spoiled. Sadly, they missed the cut-off date for government grants designed to help cover this kind of loss, leaving them to absorb the full financial burden on their own. To make matters worse, a neighbour’s tree came down during the cyclone and crashed onto their balcony, destroying their outdoor furniture and leaving them with unexpected repair costs. The combination of food loss, property damage, and the stress of trying to recover has left them struggling. They are doing their best to rebuild and move forward, but the setbacks have been significant, and they need a helping hand to get back on their feet.
