Device needed for a young boy with disability to help him regulate emotions, communicate, and feel secure in the community
We are supporting a young boy with a disability who experiences significant challenges with emotional regulation and communication. He has a support team working with him and his family to build these skills, but daily life remains difficult. When out in the community, technology has been a valuable tool to help him stay calm and communicate. He currently uses his mum’s phone to listen to music, watch videos, and access communication apps. Unfortunately, his mum cannot always provide her phone, which often leaves him distressed and forces them to leave early or avoid going out altogether. Having his own device would make a meaningful difference, helping him feel calmer, more secure, and able to engage in the community, while supporting his communication and independence. His mum, who has disabilities herself and is unable to work, experiences financial stress and cannot afford to purchase a device.
