This mum has been through a lot in the last 12 months and is still needing to navigate the government system.
As a non resident she was not eligible for single parenting payment and is living on FTB only. From this she pays her rent and buys some food. A Family Support service are supporting the family to pay for other essentials such as medication, until such time the red tape is broken through and the client can gain her Australian passport. Until then the family live under the poverty line.
The client has experienced homelessness, after escaping domestic and family violence, where she was also subjected to financial abuse as she was not the recipient of FTB for her children while the childrens father was alive. He passed away this year so the FTB has been able to be claimed by my client.
The client has been able to maintain a rental property and keep her electricity usage to a minimum, enabling ergon to accept an arrangement until clients circumstances change.
