52 year old Aboriginal woman lives with her child in a housing commission home, where they’ve been for the past seven years after fleeing domestic violence. Both are on disability pensions and struggle financially. She has a debt of over $2700 owing to electricity providers. They share a broken-down bed, and the aged electrical connections in the house cause her whitegoods to short out. When they first moved in, the Salvation Army donated second-hand furniture, which is now at the end of its usefulness. She continues to advocate for herself and her daughter, but systemic injustice makes it almost impossible to get ahead. Disconnection from family due to constant moving during the initial crisis has made their situation even harder. Any support we can offer this family would be most appreciated.
