This mum’s dedication, commitment, and love for her two children led her on a four-year journey. Mum had hit rock bottom, had a substance abuse addiction, had no family left to support her and had experienced years of domestic violence in previous relationships. Mum one day said, “If I don’t try for my children, who is going to do it”. Following this statement, mum took the initiative to have herself accepted into a rehabilitation center that was 8 hours away from her children so she could become sober and process the trauma she had experienced. Mum completed twelve months of rehabilitation and then reintegrated back into the community where she remained clean from substances for a further 12 months, along with working on getting her license back, attending counselling, addressing her mental health, and commencing study. Fast forward to 2025 parental responsibility was given back to mum for her two children. Mum has her two children back in her care full time.
