73-Year-Old struggling financially as a result of the Victorian February Storm Event and unable to purchase food.
Resident is a 73yr old, retired man living alone in his home which was damaged by the storm event. The resultant power outage and food spoilage has impacted him significantly. His pension funds are depleted. He is experiencing difficulty financing daily living expenses, fuel, utilities and his mortgage payment. He is expecting a planned power outage next week and is unable to finance fuel for a generator he has borrowed. Resident’s car is unreliable, and he feels uncomfortable driving outside of Cockatoo. He is unable to pay the excess for his insurance in order to commence repair work on his home. Food vouchers would enable him to put funds aside for his insurance. Fuel vouchers would allow him to travel outside of Cockatoo to access services such as financial counselling, Resident has a back condition and irregular heartbeat. He has undergone blood tests to determine the cause of debilitating night sweats but so there is no diagnosis. He avoids attending the GP of the costs.
