This grandmother is facing unimaginable crisis on multiple fronts. She has full care of two deeply traumatised children after they were removed from home marked by severe family violence and substance abuse. A young child has complex needs, and the other is a teenager struggling with long-term impacts of trauma and facing involvement with the youth justice system. At the same time, she has received a cancer diagnosis. While undergoing medical treatment, she is also carrying the emotional and financial weight of providing safety, stability, and love to these children. Ongoing medical appointments, travel and costs have placed her under extreme financial pressure.
The children arrived with no clothing or personal belongings. Despite her own health battles, this grandmother is determined to give them a secure, nurturing home where they can begin to heal and feel safe again. She cannot do this alone and urgently needs the compassion and support of others during this critical time.
