A young Indigenous mother is seeking support to create a safe, nurturing home for her family. She has a one year old baby boy and is expecting another baby next year. Over the past year, she and her partner faced major challenges, including homelessness and eight months in temporary hotel accommodation. Despite this, they also cared for her partner’s 8-year-old son, keeping their family together.
This young mum lives with schizophrenia, PTSD, and an intellectual disability yet continues to show great strength, ensuring her children are cared for and supported.
They’ve now been offered stable housing through HOMES NSW, but are starting from scratch with no furniture or household items. The backyard also needs work to be safe for the children.
How You Can Help: Donate essential goods or furnishings such as sheets, towels, curtains etc. or contribute funds to help purchase a lawnmower. Your support will help this family turn their new house into a safe and comfortable home.
