Recipient story

Young single mother (age 22) with two little ones need help
Domestic & Family Violence
GIVIT
2025 Tropical Cyclone Alfred
My client is a 22 year old single mother with two young daughters: a 4 year old toddler and a 8 month old newborn. She initially fled domestic violence to temporarily live with her disabled mother and brother in a crowded two bedroom townhouse with them and her children. However, she was left without a place to live after Cyclone Alfred flooded out her mother's house and was left without somewhere to stay. She was initially helped by given emergency accommodation by the Department of Housing, and then placed in an IHR program to help her and her children find suitable housing.

How it's helped before

I am writing to personally thank 'GIVIT' for a generous 'Simply Groceries eGift card' voucher that I was gifted, with $100 worth of essential spending money for my family & I to utilise at our own discretion. I can happily report this donation has assisted the purchase of a basic, solo, wifi security camera, with the excess going toward food for my teenage daughter who is currently taken on responsibilities around our home while I recover in a rehabilitation centre. Thank you for this kind gesture, as it has helped to improve security measures around our home & support my daughter to purchase daily essential items such as groceries, basic hygiene & cleaning products.

Thank you for your generous gesture & much needed support GIVIT.
