A recipient is in transitional housing and loves to garden
The recipient is a longtime resident of Lismore, having moved here as a refugee from Sudan over a decade ago. The recipient raised her children in Lismore and now is now a grandmother, being the sole carer of her grandchildren due to family breakdowns. The recipient has been through multiple floods in Lismore having lost her home twice and being evicted due to her rental being sold. The recipient is an extremely resilient person having made perilous journeys to seek asylum from Sudan to Kenya, losing family members due to war, being granted refugee status in Australia and being directly affected by floods in Lismore. The recipient loves to be self sufficient and sews clothes for herself and children, makes her own bread and would love to be able to grow her own food. Due to the nature of transitional housing, the recipient does not know when she will need to move, therefore a portable garden bed would be an ideal asset for recipient to grow her own vegies and herbs.
