Recipient story

After a month away this community member came home to a dead snake in her washing machine mechanics and it no longer working.
GIVIT
After spending a month away following the sudden passing of her adult son, this community member has returned home to yet another heartbreaking setback.
Already carrying the emotional weight of her loss — along with the unexpected financial strain of travel and funeral expenses — she walked back into her home to find a dead snake inside her washing machine. The machine is now not working.
She is now the sole surviving relative and full-time carer of her 11-year-old granddaughter. Together, they are navigating grief while rebuilding a sense of normality and stability.
A working washing machine is not a luxury, it’s essential. School uniforms, everyday clothes, bedding, these daily necessities are part of creating a safe, clean and consistent home environment for a child who has already experienced so much loss.
At a time when funds are stretched beyond capacity, replacing the washing machine simply isn’t possible without help.
