Our tenancy program has just started supporting a middle-aged lady with a disability who received disability support pension, has a history of childhood trauma, and a recent experience of domestic violence, which has led to her facing significant financial hardship. She has accrued debt due to reduced income and is now at risk of homelessness after receiving a sudden Notice to Vacate, just weeks before Christmas. Her tenancy is ending unexpectedly, leaving her with limited options for stable housing. Majority of her income is spent on rent, and she struggles to cover essential expenses, including transport for work and medications, often going without to make sure rent is paid. The cumulative impact of trauma, disability, and financial stress has left her highly anxious and vulnerable. Short-term financial assistance is urgently needed to prevent homelessness and support her in securing safe, stable accommodation in the future. Any support is greatly appreciated.
