Recipient story

14 Year old female, rebuilding her future
GIVIT
First Nations Support
Domestic & Family Violence
This request is for a 14-year-old Aboriginal young person who has experienced ongoing family instability and exposure to alcohol and drug misuse. Over the past year she moved between relatives’ homes due to safety concerns, disrupting her schooling and sense of belonging.

She is now living in a safe and caring environment and, for the first time in a long time, is able to focus on being a young person again. She is attending school consistently, showing determination, and beginning to believe in her future.

Due to frequent moves and financial hardship she does not have the basic school supplies needed to participate fully in class. Providing these items will help her feel included, build confidence, and stay engaged in education — an important step toward breaking the cycle and creating a different future.

Support now will help her stay connected to school, culture and community, strengthening pride in who she is while building confidence and a positive pathway forward.
