Older Aboriginal father caring for his 11yo daughter and 13yo son. 11yo daughter has diagnosis of non-verbal Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and severe intellectual disability. 13yo son has a diagnosis of mild intellectual disability and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Father has difficulties with reading and writing. He is the only person involved in caring for children, he does not have support from extended family living locally. Father is also involved in helping other people in his community who often come to him for help including the children's mother (who also has a diagnosed disability- she does not live in the house).

Father reports significant financial hardship. His car is due for registration at the end of July. Father relies on support from children’s individual schools to assist with transport and sometimes with food. Family are also due to access specialized services in Sydney soon which would mean increased financial impact.
