57 year old lady has escaped a long-term domestic violence situation which forced her to relocate to public housing in Sydney. She was previously employed; however, the abuse she experienced from her ex-partner has taken a toll on her mentally, therefore she is struggling to secure employment. She is receiving special benefits from Centrelink, but it is not enough to be able to afford basic essentials such as food, and appliances. She has a son but due to safety reasons she does not want him to know about the situation, therefore she is living alone which makes her feel very isolated and helpless. She is taking English speaking classes full time to be able to better understand and speak English. We have referred her to free counselling to help her process her current situation. Any support we can offer this lady would be greatly appreciated.
