Freezer needed to keep meals safe for evacuees and vulnerable people cut off during floods, fires, and storms
Flooding 2022
2025 Tropical Cyclone Alfred
This volunteer-led community group supports multiple remote villages and towns in one of the most high-risk regions of NSW for floods, fires, landslides, and storms. Formed in response to devastating floods, the group now works year-round to help residents prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. When disasters strike, roads are often cut off, leaving people stranded without access to shops or formal support services. In these times, community hubs become lifelines—providing safety, information, food, connection, and care. Volunteers cook meals to support evacuees, isolated households, and residents unable to prepare food due to power or water loss. However, without reliable cold storage, these meals cannot be safely stored in advance or kept available when urgently needed. A small freezer would provide a practical, sustainable solution, enabling volunteers to stockpile meals, reduce food waste, and deliver immediate assistance, strengthening community resilience in times
