I have been supporting a mum navigate the NDIS and health system to support the varying needs of her 4 children; the mum also has her own health needs, however places them at a lower priority than her children. While the mum works well with support services to achieve her goals when connected with the, she will not initially seek the support and will only connect when it is offered/suggested. The mum is a proud woman and finds it hard to accept help, particularly when the support is around providing financially for her family, and will often say that there are people struggling more than her. The mum shared with me her feelings of guilt at not being able to purchase items for Christmas for the family, and became overwhelmed when I suggested I could attempt to gain vouchers through this platform. The mum would be very grateful for any financial support offered to provide a memorable Christmas for the children.
