Heat severely affects her neurological condition and disability, causing fatigue, dizziness, and reduced mobility, which limits her ability to care for her children safely. Having two units would be ideal: one for the lounge/living room where she and the children spend most of their time during the day, and one for her bedroom to ensure she can rest and recover overnight. This would allow her to maintain her energy and wellbeing while keeping her children safe and comfortable. She is extremely appreciative of any support, and even a single unit would make a meaningful difference to her family’s safety and quality of life.

A single mother of three has a neurological condition and disability that are worsened by heat. During hot weather, she experiences severe fatigue, dizziness, and reduced mobility, making it difficult to safely care for her children and manage daily tasks. Extreme heat also increases her risk of health complications and hospitalisation. She currently only has one ceiling fan in the lounge room which is broken. A portable air conditioner would provide a safe, cool environment at home, helping her maintain energy, focus, and wellbeing. This support would improve her ability to parent safely, reduce stress, and create a comfortable space for her children, ensuring their safety and wellbeing during periods of extreme heat.
