Family impacted by gang violence and housing stress

Client and her family were living in a private rental property when client's 17-year-old son became the target of gangs in the area because of his association with rival gang members. In April, masked intruders wearing gloves broke into the house in the middle of the night looking to harm the son. The group had bats which they used to smash walls and belongings in the rental property, smash the client's car up and assault the client when they found her son was not home.
The family's TV was smashed in the attack, and the client was unable to continue operating her family day care service from the property, leading to significant loss of income. The family were forced to move houses to prevent being the target of further violence and have only just been able to settle in a new, safe property.
Due to moving costs and needing to purchase other new items that were broken in the attack, the client has been unable to afford to purchase a new TV.
