gentleman with scoliosis, severe muscular dystrophy and PTSD wanting to have a comfortable end of life in his own home
GIVIT
The person I am supporting is a kind, humble gentleman who lives by himself in a small unit.
As well as having a history of PTSD from having a traumatic and abusive childhood in orphanages, he also developed scoliosis as a child and lived with many challenges and limitations. He has complete curvature of his spine, he cannot stand up straight or lift his head up without support.
Despite these challenges, he remains so lovely and positive and is thankful for every day.
About 24 months ago, he was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy which attacks his organs.
As of the last 4 months, he is going blind.
About 12 months ago he was given just 6 month to live, but he has proved determined to keep going.
Due to his PTSD from childhood trauma and inadequate family unit or support as well as being institutionalised as a child, his does not want his time of passing to be in a hospital setting but to have the dignity to pass away as comfortably as he can in his own home.
