Much needed vouchers to continue to run craft focused groups on the unit
GIVIT
The Western Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is providing care to women and gender diverse individuals with acute mental health needs. We are a public health organisations, however our groups and activities on the unit are not funded enough to cover our costs. We are kindly asking for donation of vouchers to be able to up keep demand of supplies.
Women who attend this unit are struggling with their mental health and have usually experienced trauma, domestic violence, homelessness and are missing their kids and family environment. We recognise that being admitted to an inpatient unit can be scary and overwhelming, particularly for those people who have experienced trauma and violence.
We are running an arts and crafts group that allows the women to identify strategies and interventions that help them feel safe and secure whilst they are on the unit as well as how they can keep safe when they return home. The vouchers will go towards buying resources for this group.
