Bankstown NSW 2200

Seeking 2 IPADS to help her grand-daughters with school work remotely but also to assist with Telehealth sessions. The family are unable to travel for mental health care and there are no such services available in the town or within driving distance. Further, the stigma of mental health in Regional NSW is quite intense, as a result the family have become very withdrawn and we are hoping to build their communications, support and social connections with the use of technology.

Recipient story

One brave Grandmother doing her best every day
First Nations Support
GIVIT
This grandmother is one amazing woman... her two granddaughter were taken into Forster care because of drug abuse in the home and their escalating mental issues. So this grandmother stepped in to take full-time care of her grand-daughters. However, living in remote NSW, caring for young children with complex mental health needs has been hugely challenging and is a daily battle.
As a result of COVID, her daily visits to her frail father became increasingly challenging... some days into regional lockdowns, he suffered a fall in home and now resides with his daughter and is in her all time care.
This remarkable women is caring for so many people that she loves, but is also battling her own personal, long-term, battle with cancer and is preparing for a double knee replacement following lockdown.
A stressful time, with an enormous load, and yet this grandmother continues to smile and think of others.
