Traditional Owner is forced to leave her home due to housing crisis and seeks support to make herself safe at camp on country
A Traditional Owner has been forced to make the difficult decision to leave her home as the cost rent has become more than she can afford and there is no other affordable housing available to her. As well as financial strife, she suffers from respiratory illness with bouts of breathlessness, laboured breathing and chest pains. Due to this housing crisis, and despite her poor health, she has been compelled to move "on country" in her family's traditional land, but it is just an uncleared block of land in the rainforest. She is seeking support to help her make a suitable home for herself, which includes felling the trees, clearing the land and building a shelter. She has found some support with local men to help undertake the work, but they have no appropriate tools or materials. It is important that her home be able to support her cultural and health needs.
