Single man aged 40. Experiencing homelessness while managing complex mental and physical health challenges.
A single man at 40 years old, he has spent much of his adult life surviving rather than living. Currently experiencing homelessness, he has been staying in emergency accommodation while managing a complex mix of mental and physical health challenges, including ADHD, ASD, PTSD, an eating disorder, and diabetes. These conditions are rooted in a lifetime shaped by trauma. Growing up, he was exposed to domestic and family violence from his father, leaving lasting emotional scars. Later, his experiences within the mental health system were often distressing, leaving him feeling misunderstood, dismissed, and unsafe. Despite these hardships, he has not lost his determination. He has shown resilience through actively seeking ways to improve his wellbeing, build independence, and reconnect with a sense of purpose. Recently, he is hopeful that he will secure an apartment soon, which would represent a critical turning point and an opportunity to rebuild his life in a safe and stable environment.
