Homeless client finally moving into permanent housing
GIVIT
Client has been in crisis accommodation after an extended period of homeless during which client was couch surfing and moving from place to place. Client's last permanent housing was with family interstate but broke down due to lack of support or recognition of client's sexuality. Client has lived long term with anxiety and depression and previously experienced substance use issues as a way of coping with trauma. As a result client has been very isolated, without any familial or other supports.
With the help of case management and housing support, the client has successfully sustained long term abstinence engaged in mental health support leading to the offer of his first permanent home. The client sees this as an opportunity to put down roots, engage with community, to explore options to work and study again and to build connections.
