Women who attend this ward are struggling with their mental health and have usually experienced trauma, domestic violence, homelessness and are missing their kids and family environment. We recognise that being admitted to an inpatient unit can be scary and overwhelming, particularly for those people who have experienced trauma and violence.
Being admitted in an inpatient ward during Christmas is an overwhelming and emotional time for some of the women on the ward. They are away from the warmth and familiarity of their families and mission out on participating in family traditions of gift giving. Their admission in the ward should not prevent them from missing out of this tradition.
We would like yo help create that warmth and care by getting gifts for the women on the warn to remind them how special they are. We are hoping that some vouchers that we could gift to the women for Christmas .
