Single mother who works part time looking after her child and struggling to comprehend what is needed of her to maintain Centrelink and childcare supplements.
Worked on farms when first entered Australia and found herself pregnant, deserted and unemployed and unable to claim benefits.
Assistance was received from Multicultural Service who supported her to get her Residency to allow her to apply for benefits and also to get part time employment.
Since entering the Homelessness Service, we have assisted to correct her benefit entitlements, and we have supported her to enrol her son in Prep and is doing ok except for the high cost of living.
