Positive impact stories help donors understand exactly how their support changes lives. And when donors see the real difference their gift has made, they’re far more likely to give again. This means sharing your story can directly increase the chance of your future requests being met.
If the person who received the donated item has told you how it helped, we’d love for you to pass that on. It can be just a few heartfelt words.
Easy ways to share a great story
1. Share the impact on the recipient.
Example: Adam* and his mum are very thankful and wanted to ensure the generous donor knew how grateful she and her son are for the new iPad. Adam’s mum shared: “Oh wow that is amazing news, that is so generous and kind. Adam is going to be over the moon. We appreciate it so much.”
*You can keep the recipient anonymous by using an alias.
2. Tell us how GIVIT helps you support people in need.
Example: Being able to make requests like this through GIVIT makes our job as support workers so much easier, and it means we can help more kids while they are going through a tough time.
3. Share a photo or video.
Photos and videos are the best way to bring your story to life. It could be you with the donated item, the recipient proudly using it, the moment you handed it over, or even a simple photo of the item itself. If anyone in the photo prefers to stay anonymous, you can easily cover or blur their face. A great image helps donors truly see the impact of their kindness and inspires them to keep giving.
It only takes a moment. You can submit a story or testimonial here.
